Wexler joined the Yale faculty in 1989. Her monograph, “Tender Violence: Domestic Visions in an Age of U. S. Imperialism” (2000), received the Joan Kelley Memorial Prize of the American Historic Affiliation for the ideal book in women’s heritage and/or feminist principle. Her e book “Tender Violence” is groundbreaking in its method to the research of pictures: in it, Wexler areas the perform of the initial technology of American woman photojournalists in the context of discourses of imperial power,
