Rolling car photography: Japanese muscle cars on 8×10 Kodak film

When you think about rolling car photography — the art of taking photos of moving vehicles, not just moving cars — using large format film probably doesn’t spring to mind as your first choice. Hell, 35mm film probably won’t either, let alone a ponderous photographic format, exposed one sheet at a time by a box weighing 10lbs/4.5kg (without lens).

When you think about Auto 7 days, you may think about glamour, auctions or eye-catching classic cars. For Monterey-dependent photographer Robb Hallock, Motor vehicle 7 days is a lot more than that. It is time to investigate infinite choices in the realm of his artwork, which he phone calls “autostract” – the art of photographing summary car or truck images.

Hallock generally images architecture and food stuff at Batista Moon Studio in Monterey. He has often cherished cars and trucks, and they’ve occur in and out of his professional vocation he was a photographer for Concours d’Elegance for a ten years in the ’80s and ’90s. These times, he does it for exciting. “The car or truck tradition has often just been pretty attractive,” he claims.
