If you live in Europe or you go on a holiday there more often than not, you might be aware of the many museums there are for you to visit. There are many different kinds of museums you can take a look at. there are ones where they display amazing paintings of well known painters like Rembrandt, Picasso or Van Gogh, there are ones that are lesser known and have a different art exhibition every once in a while. There are so many to choose from. I’ll give you a few examples and tell you a few things about the museum itself.

Amsterdam

Amsterdam is a city of museums. It has the museum square which has 3 museums located around it. In the city itself there are about 50 museums to choose from. One of the most well known ones is ‘het Rijksmuseum’. Rijksmuseum is the museum where the paintings of the painters Rembrandt, Vermeer and Hals are displayed for everyone to see. It’s a beautiful museum just as much from the outside as it is from the inside. The museum opened its doors in 1885 and has been a very visited place in Amsterdam. There is also another Amsterdam museum, it’s called the Moco Museum. It’s much smaller and more focussed on the works that include more recent subjects in the art.

Madrid

If you decide to go on a holiday and you go for the warm country that is Spain you might also decide on it’s capital, Madrid. Madrid has a couple great museums. One that is possibly the most well known one in the entirety of Spain is ‘Museo del Prado’ which means ‘Prado Museum’. You can look at the artworks made by people like: El Greco, Goya, Velazquez and many more. If you want to go to another museum in Madrid, maybe the Sorolla Museum is something for you. There’s a lot for you to pick from.

Musée du Louvre

Last but definitely not least is Musée du Louvre, also Le Louvre. It’s one of the world’s biggest museums and it’s located in the French capital. The Mona Lisa made by Leonardo Da Vinci is most likely the most well known piece of art in this museum. The beautiful glass building is divided into three separate wings, the Richelieu-wing, the Sully-wing and the Denon-wing. The museum is not only a place to look at art but also the place where a lot of fashion shows are held at Paris fashion week. Even some well known singers like Beyoncé and Jay-Z recorded a music video there, they recorded the video for their single Apeshit.
